Recalling happy times at Plessey's factory in South Shields

The memories came flooding back when former Plessey's employees got together for a reunion at Brigham's.

And they had such a good time that organisers, Lynda (Tyrie) Lamb, Fran (Kane) Manson and Anne (Morgan) Blacklock are hoping to do it all again next year.

“As you can see we had a good turn out,” said the trio.

“It was lovely to see friends who had worked together and reminiscing, with conversations starting with ‘can you remember?’.

“It was a great place to work, lots of laughs. The age range was diverse - young and old working together.

“They could be very protective with us young ones which was definitely true in my case.

“The wages were good for its time. The Adam and Eve was the local where lots of us would meet up.

“Frederick Street was where most of us shopped. In fact, we had a quiz at our reunion to see who could remember names of the various shops.”
