Whether they’re in make-up and costume or dressed in ‘civvies’, there’s no disguising the delight on the faces of these amateur thespians.
Members of the South Shields Amateur Operatic Society, they were pictured over the years performing in various shows or simply lining up for the camera in a wonderful stage shot.
From a 1982 performance of Godspell, to a pantomime and on to 1985, and a production of Mame, they certainly seem to have a great time, putting on a show for local people.
What are your memories of either being on stage or in the audience for these and other shows?
How many of the society’s members do you recognise?
