With the UK experiencing a mini-heatwave, people flocked to Sandhaven beach to enjoy a day out in the sun.

Highs of around 25°c were experienced on South Tyneside on Friday with the weather set to remain warm heading into the weekend.

Our photographer Stu Norton visited the seafront on Friday, August 7 to capture images of people enjoying their day out.
