A South Tyneside pub is hoping to go alfresco by adding a beer garden to its attractions.
Bosses at Lancashire-based pub chain Amber Taverns, want to create an outdoor seating area at Yates’s Wine Lodge in Mile End Road, South Shields.
In proposals submitted to South Tyneside Council’s planning committee, it states that the new area will be made by removing a section of its existing roof.
The application is also asking for permission to install windows able to be opened so it can offer customers more fresh air over the summer months.
It also requests consent for the removal of its kitchen and food preparation facilities to make more space for people.
Comments can be made on the proposals until Monday, June 8. For details, visit the planning section at www.southtyneside.gov.uk and search for ‘ST/0437/15/FUL’.
