A South Tyneside theatre group is spreading Christmas cheer by securing the performance rights to a classic festive show.
Starset Theatre, which is based at Boldon School in Boldon Colliery, has been given the go-ahead to perform Elf - The Musical.
This is a fantastic coup for StarsetElissa Hudson
Elissa and John Hudson, who run the borough’s longest performing arts group, are delighted with the opportunity.
Elissa said: “This is such a fantastic coup for Starset, we’re one of only a handful of group across the UK who has been given permission to perform the show.
“I’ve been bursting to let the cat out of the bag. It’s the ultimate feel-good festive show, not just for children, but for adults too.
“We can’t wait to get started with auditions and rehearsals.”
Elf –The Musical launched in London’s West End during the summer.
The musical follows Buddy the elf, who discovers he’s really a human, and his mission to find his biological father while keeping the Christmas spirit alive.
Elissa said: ““Any children who want to get involved with the production should come on down to our rehearsals.”
Classes run on Saturday and Sunday mornings, between 9am and 10am and 10am to 1pm, depending on the age of the child.
The musical will be performed on the last weekend before Christmas.
