Acts will take to South Shields stage for teenage cancer charity

Music Fest TCT is returning to the Customs House, in South Shields, later this month.

The gig, which will raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, will be at the Mill Dam venue on Friday, April 22.

South Shields band The Waiters and Jarrow singer Abi Garrido are set to perform alongside girl group NE Girls and songstress Kerrianne Covell.

The event, which ran for the first time last year, has been organised by Jonathan Docherty as part of his events management course at Newcastle College.

The 23-year-old, from Chichester, South Shields, said: “I started the event last year, and when I found out I had to organise another I decided to revisit this and build on its success.

“It’s been great putting it together. I’ve got some fantastic prizes to give away on the night, including a stay at a hotel in Newcastle and tickets to see Sunderland football club.

“I think it’s going to be a really good night. The acts are all really popular and they’re excited about taking part. The Waiters have got a new single too that they’re going to play for the first time at the gig so that will be a nice surprise for everyone.”

The event will also see BBC Radio Newcastle’s Sue Sweeney get involved as compere.
