Air ambulance called to grounds of South Tyneside school
A woman had to be airlifted to hospital after collapsing in the grounds of a South Tyneside school.
The incident happened at around 3pm yesterday, when the adult female collapsed in the car park of Bamburgh School.
The North East Ambulance Service was initially called to the woman's aid and then the Great North Air Ambulance was called to the scene in Norham Avenue South.
After treatment on the scene the woman was placed on the helicopter and airlifted to hospital.
Bamburgh School has posted on its website that due to unforeseen circumstances it will be closed to all pupils today.
