Public transport services in South Tyneside have confirmed their schedules for the festive period.
There will be no Metro, bus, rail or ferry services tomorrow or on New Year’s Day, while there is a normal Metro weekday timetable today, with extra trains until about 6.30pm.
They will then be half-hourly through Newcastle city centre, and hourly in other areas until 11pm.
On Boxing Day, there will be a Saturday timetable between 8am and 9pm, and a Saturday timetable also on Monday.
On New Year’s Eve, there will be a normal weekday service until 8pm, with services every 30 minutes after that until 11.15pm.
Go North East and Stagecoach buses are operating a Saturday timetable today, with Arriva North East on a normal timetable, while all services will run until about 6.30pm.
On Boxing Day, there will be bus services for most of the day until 8pm, with Saturday timetables on New Year’s Eve, services run down after 6.30pm and finished by 8pm.
The Shields Ferry will have an early finish today and New Year’s Eve, with the last ferry from South Shields at 7.15pm and North Shields at 7.30pm. There will be a Sunday timetable on Boxing Day.
Northern Rail services between Newcastle and Sunderland are off on Boxing Day, with normal services on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve until a reduced timetable from 8pm.
Nexus TravelShops will close at 1pm today and New Year’s Eve, and are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, December 27 and New Year’s Day.
