The event takes place at Perth Green Community Association, Inverness Road, Jarrow on Saturday between 10am and 5pm and Sunday, between 10am and 4pm.

The 14 layouts will cover everything from a replication of the electrified west cost main line as it was in the 1990’s to a depiction of a small quarry and loading facility for Middle Peak Quarry near Wirksworth in Derbyshire.

Organiser Eric Fletcher said: “Two examples of the more unusual layouts on display will be ‘Wellmich am Rhein’ which depicts part of the Koblenz to Wiesbaden route and ‘Project Iraq’ which models a moment in time in 2003 somewhere near Basra in southern Iraq soon after the fighting had ceased.

“The detail modelled in some of the layouts is extraordinary. One called Wemblesden Park includes a fully detailed signal box with a working track diagram linked to the layouts signalling system.”
