South Tyneside Against Bullying will be offering talks in schools across the region from September.

The programme, which is targeted at children aged between eight an 16, will deliver an anti-bullying message as well as discussing the impact bullying can have on people.

Callum Carr, founder of the charity, said: “Over the past year we have delivered our educational talks to over a 1,000 young people across the globe including in the Philippines, Ireland and in the North East.

“Our talks are highly popular and offer a wide range of knowledge and facts for young people in primary and secondary schools.

“We are looking forward to delivering this service to schools and community groups and help educate youngsters on anti-bullying and internet safety.”

The new academic year starts in September and South Tyneside Against Bullying hopes that their new educational programme will reduce the significant figure of bullying in our area.

Callum, 18, added: “In February 2015 South Tyneside Council released a figure to the public that a quarter (25%) of South Tyneside’s young people experience bullying during a course of a year with 10% too scared for school.

“For a local area this is a significant figure and we need to work to reduce this percentage sooner rather than later before it rises, that’s why South Tyneside Against Bullying have redesigned our educational programme.

“I can confirm that South Tyneside Against Bullying are currently in partnership talks with highly respected and well-known companies to roll our educational programme out on a national basis, however details of this are yet to be confirmed and a full announcement will be made within due course.”
