An international coffee chain has opened its latest store in South Shields.
Starbucks officially began welcoming customers to its drive-thru and cafe next to the Esso garage, in Newcastle Road, Simonside, on Thursday.
The new store has created 20 news jobs in the town and is also set to offer NVQ apprenticeships.
The Starbucks store is one of the first drive-thrus in the Newcastle area and will be run by franchise partner, Euro Garages.
The store offers both indoor and outdoor seating to suit business users and local shoppers as well as providing easy access for commuters and families on the go.
Mo Tayab, head of brand for Euro Garages said: “We’re thrilled to be opening the new Starbucks store in such a great location. We’re looking forward to building relationships with the local community and getting to know our neighbours”.
Simon Redfern, Starbucks communications director for Europe said: “We’re delighted to be opening our new store. It’s particularly exciting to be opening the first Starbucks drive-thru in the South Shields area and we’re all looking forward to becoming part of the local community.”
The store will be open 6am to 7pm Mondays to Fridays, 7am to 9pm on Saturday and 8am to 9pm on a Sunday.
