ART lovers are in the frame for a treat later this month.

As part of the Jarrow Festival, the Mid-Tyne Art Group is preparing to stage an exhibition at the Baptist Church in Grange Road West, starting from Thursday, May 21.

Among more than 70 watercolours, oils and acrylics, there promises to be something to suit all artistic tastes.

All the paintings will be up for sale with asking prices between £10 and £60.

The art group, which meets every Monday afternoon from 12.30pm to 2.45pm, at Jarrow Community Centre, has 20 members – 18 of whom will be exhibiting.

Group treasurer Bill Brown, said: “We will have at least 75 paintings on display, including portraits, scene shots, animals and famous movie stars, such as Clark Gable and Laurel and Hardy.

“I’ve told the class members to bring at least five large paintings and at least eight if they are small. We normally do well with the sales and we’ll be staging another event at the West Park in July.

“Everyone is welcome to come and have a look at our work.”

The exhibition will be on display until Saturday, May 30.

Admission is free and opening times are Thursday, May 21, and Friday, May 22, 10am to 4pm; on Saturdays, 10am to 2pm, and on Wednesday, May 27 to Friday, May 30, 10am to 4pm.
