Time is running out for South Tyneside art lovers to bag a bargain.

The Mid-Tyne Art Group, in Jarrow, is currently staging an exhibition of its members’ work at the Veterans’ Lodge in the town’s West Park.

But it only runs until Wednesday next week, with the doors open from 10am to 4pm.

Among more than 80 watercolours, oils and acrylics on display, there is something to suit all artistic tastes, including portraits and local scenes.

All the paintings are up for sale with asking prices from just £5.

The art group, which meets every Monday afternoon from 12.30pm to 2.45pm at Jarrow Community Centre, has a reputation for innovative displays, including an exhibition commemorating the First World war

Artist and group treasurer Bill Brown said: “There is something there to suit all tastes and anyone is welcome to come along and browse around and see if there’s anything that catches their eye.

“With 80-odd works on display I’m sure visitors won’t be disappointed.”

Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
