A South Tyneside company is helping us to find the best of the area’s community heroes.
UK Asbestos Specialists (UKasl) is backing our Best of South Tyneside competition.
We are delighted to be backing the competition as our firm is all about providing the best service possibleLes Cooper from UKasl
And what better supporter could we ask for in our search for the elite.
UKasl excels in asbestos-awareness training to keep people safe from the dangers of what has become known as ‘The Hidden Killer’ material.
It provides training to the construction industry, where illnesses related to asbestos claim the lives of up to 5,000 people a year.
But thanks to UKasl, the industry is getting the very best training support.
It does that by face-to-face methods and also through innovative online courses.
Les Cooper, from UKasl, said he was delighted to be supporting the competition as his firm was all about providing the best service possible.
The Hebburn-based company was established in 2003 and is now recognised to be UK’s leading asbestos-related training provider. Clients include housing associations, local authorities and private companies, who are required by law to manage any asbestos risks in properties they own or manage.
The risks to workers are different from the days of heavy industry and shipyards, but still exist within the construction and refurbishment industries.
The Best of South Tyneside awards have a headline sponsor of Siemens and are held in association with The Customs House.
