IT was just like watching Barcelona as a talented team of youngsters from Boldon scored debut success on the football pitch.
Boldon Colts Barca under-sixes proved more than a match for the competition as they lined up for their first-ever tilt at tournament glory.
The newly-formed outfit – made up of five and six-year-olds – stormed to victory in the Humbleton and Plains Farm Easter tournament.
The team of mini Messis and Suarezes – whose name is inspired by the Catalan giants – notched up 26 goals during an impressive five game winning streak.
Now the team are hoping to net a new sponsor as they look to build on their impressive start.
Proud coach Andrew Bonar said: “We are a newly-formed team of five and six-year-olds.
“We played five games, winning all of them against teams that have been established and playing together for a lot longer than us.
“We scored an amazing 26 goals and only conceded one.
“We played Leam Rangers, Hebburn, and Plains Farm, who we beat 3-0 in the final.
“As we are a new team, ideally we would like someone who could sponsor us.”
