The Gazette reported on Saturday how the South Shields-trained boxer had suffered the blow of seeing a British Challenge Belt match against Trevor Crewe collapse.

A mouth-watering Sunderland derby had been earmarked for Saturday, June 25 in Gateshead.

However, a hand injury to his rival put paid to that and promoters Fighting Chance are desperately seeking a substitute.

Desperate is also a word which can be associated with Mould.

This is the third proposed derby to have fallen through for the 26-year-old, from Sunderland.

Mould had been due to take on Horden’s Anth Hardy for the Northern Area title, only for the Hartlepool-based southpaw to pull out injured.

And talk of a big Summer Rumble showdown at the Stadium of Light with Glenn Foot remained just that, talk, after terms could not be agreed.

Mould hopes Fighting Chance boss Lewis Pendleton can come up with a bout for him.

“I need an eight-rounder, definitely, I hope Lewis can swing it,” said “Lightning” Lee.

“Lewis has been very good with us, he’s always said about getting me on his bills.

“He wants to showcase me so he obviously has confidence in me.

“I hope he can get me out in a meaningful fight on June 25th.

“I’m ready to move on and I just want to show people what I’m capable of.”

Mould has not fought since an unsuccessful challenge for the English light-welterweight title last June, losing out to Adam Little on points in Blackpool

“Little was last June and before that it was Craig Dixon in the previous November,” shrugged the all-action fighter..

“I’ve been a pro for three years and had only nine bouts, it’s not good enough.

“I was supposed to box Anth Hardy in March but that was put back to May and then he pulled out injured.

“I’ve been in the gym since January, I just want to fight.

“Mal gave me a week off after Anth pulled out but this year has been constant training.

“I’m fit and ready to go, I just need someone to fight.”
