An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being knocked down in South Tyneside.
The schoolboy was hit by a vehicle at the top of Whitburn Road in Cleadon at about 4.30pm.
Emergency services, including an ambulance and police cars rushed to the scene.
The boy was taken to hospital suffering from a leg injury.
Northumbria Police wrote on its facebook page: “Road reopen after collision involving a car and 11 year-old boy.
“Happened at Whitburn Road in Cleadon this afternoon at 4.30pm. Boy taken to hospital with leg injury but is in a stable condition.”
