BRAVE Sasha France is already a headline-hitter thanks to her excellent talents on stage and her remarkable recovery from a health fight.

The 11-year-old from Jarrow is a finalist in the Young Performer of the Year competition, sponsored by Port of Tyne.

She has overcome her own health battles after coming back from two operations – at just 11 days and 11 weeks old – to repair a hole in her heart and a coarctation of the aorta, thanks to staff at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.

But she is now a star in her own right thanks to the way she has already shone in competitions.

She earned a spot in the regional finals of the TeenStar competition, as did her 10-year-old brother David.

Proud dad David said Sasha reached the national final of the TeenStar competition last year and she already has a wealth of experience on stage since taking up singing at the age of eight,

Now Sasha is also hoping to excel in the Best of South Tyneside Young Performer competition, sponsored by Port of Tyne.

She will be one of a number of outstanding talents in the Young Performer finals. We will be featuring more of them in the coming days.

Readers can book up for tickets to see them all in action. Our finalists in the Port of Tyne sponsored competition will get to perform at the Customs House in South Shields on Monday, April 27, from 7pm.

Tickets are on sale at £7 or £6 with concessions. For tickets and details, contact the box office on (0191) 4541234.
