A father who turned a sideline into a flourishing business is preparing to move into his own premises.
Andrew Potts started offering his accountancy skills to friends as a way of boosting his income.
Andrew PottsI never thought when I started working from my bedroom I would be where I am now.
His office back in 2008 was his bedroom.
Seven years on, the 34-year-old is preparing to move his firm, KP Simpson Certified Public Accountants, into its own building, but its location won’t be confirmed until contract details are finalised.
The firm currently rents offices at Martha’s Vineyard in Hebburn and employs several staff members, plus an apprentice. It has more than 560 clients on its books.
Mr Potts said: “When I started the sideline, I never thought it would take off like it did. It was a massive leap of faith to leave a permanent job. I never thought when I started working from my bedroom that I would be where I am now.”
The firm offers small and medium-sized enterprises services including payroll and book-keeping, taxation advice and niche accounting help.
Mr Potts, a fully qualified accountant, added: “We strive to deliver the best customer service, which I think is why we have really taken off.
“We treat everyone as a person and not a number, providing them with the service and care we would expect for ourselves.”
