A new doggy day care business is opening its doors in South Tyneside this weekend.

Pets 2 Impress will begin welcoming pooches on Saturday at its base at Unit 4, in Mitre Place, Tyne Dock, South Shields.

The dogs won’t just be left in a room on their own all day, they’ll be well looked after and have lots of activities to do throughout the day so we guarantee they’ll go home tired out.

The company has been operating in the borough for the last seven years, looking after people’s pets while they’re away on holiday, and offering dog walking and puppy classes, but is now expanding.

Director Tim Jackson, 29, from South Shields, is a vet nurse and pet behaviourist.

He said: “We’re going to be offering doggy day care for when people are at work or they want to go shopping and don’t want to leave their dog on its own, grooming, and DIY grooming so people can use our facility rather than get their own bathrooms dirty if they’ve been down the beach and the dog is mucky.

“We’re also going to offer dog classes and training, agility, and doggy birthday parties.

“There are 16 of us all together and we’ve been working from home for the past few years so it’s great to be expanding the business.

“The dogs won’t just be left in a room on their own all day, they’ll be well looked after and have lots of activities to do throughout the day so we guarantee they’ll go home tired out.

“We’ve also got a quiet room for older dogs who just want to chill on the sofa.”

Pets 2 Impress will be officially opened by the Mayor of South Tyneside Coun Richard Porthouse and Mayoress, his wife Mary, at noon on Saturday.
