A FAMILY business is going from strength to strength.
Michael Calvert joined the business – Calverts Electricals – just over 10 years ago and has now opened up his second shop.
The store in the Nook shopping area in South Shields, is the third premises to be owned by the Calverts.
The family already have shops in Sea Road, Fulwell, Sunderland, and in Seaham.
The 35-year-old said: “My grandfather started the business almost 80 years ago in Seaham, then four years ago we opened a shop in Fulwell.
“We had been looking for a shop in South Shields, but we were looking for somewhere which had accessible and free parking for our customers and that’s when we came across The Nook.
“It is a fantastic shopping area and has so much to offer to those who come here, we just thought it was ideal place to set up our business.
“And, with us being part of the buying group Euronics, it enables our prices to be competitive.”
The store, in Sunderland Road, opened its doors to customers for the first time five weeks ago and offers a range of white goods including washing machines, cookers, fridge freezers, hoovers, TVs and toasters for sale.
Mr Calvert added: “Since we opened we have had quite a lot of people through our doors, but there is still a lot of people who don’t know we are here.
“People have said it’s nice to be able to come into a store and talk to someone about what they are buying, we aim to deliver a traditional customer service experience, with delivery, fiting and we even take things away for our customers.
“We strive to deliver the best custiomer service from the purchase to the after sales.”
The store is open Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5pm. People can also visit the website www.calvertsonline.com
