A South Tyneside couple are hoping their building their new business venture will be child’s play.

Natalie and Paul Smith are offering soft play equipment for hire for private functions after becoming the first to sign up to a franchise offered by mum Sarah Briggs.

The feedback from people we have been out to see and provided equipment for has been fantastic.

Sarah, 34, from South Shields, runs Hooray Soft Play.

After seeing bookings across South Tyneside and beyond soar, she decided to offer her brand as a franchise.

Now, the couple, from The Willows in Hebburn, are branching the brand out into Sunderland as their very own business venture.

Since their launch last month, the couple say they have been inundated with requests.

Mum-of-one Mrs Smith said: “Everything is going really well. We have had lots of enquiries and we have already had a full month of bookings.

“When we first signed the contract to run Hooray Soft Play in Sunderland we were looking forward to it but also a little apprehensive, as we were not sure what to expect.

“Sarah is really well established in South Tyneside, she had a few bookings for Sunderland but we thought it would take a little bit longer than it has for us to really take off.

“The feedback from people we have been out to see and provided equipment for has been fantastic.

“As parents of a little girl, we know how hard it is to find age-appropriate equipment for parties, so to be able to provide something like this for weddings or christenings to help keep the children entertained is brilliant.”

The soft-play equipment is available for hire for any private function. It is delivered and set up by the couple and picked up at the end of the booking.

Mrs Smith added: “Becoming part of Hooray Soft Play is one of the best decisions we have made. The feedback not just from the adults but from the kids themselves has been lovely.

“Sometimes when we have gone in to pack the equipment up, the kids from the party have wanted to help and when we ask if they’ve had a good time they all say yes, which is lovely to hear.”

The standard booking price is based on a two-hour time slot. However, times can be extended to suit people’s needs.
