Offshore training firm to open new head office in Jarrow

An offshore training company is gearing up to open a new head office in South Tyneside helping to create jobs for the area.

Wescott Coatings and Training Services will open in Shaftsbury Avenue, Jarrow tomorrow.

The company specialises in training provision for offshore, renewable energy and network rail.

The new facility will include an open office, two training rooms, two director offices, boardroom, bathrooms and kitchen facilities, workshop, blasting and spray chambers.

A rope access training centre will teach rigging.

Tom Whittleton, company founder, said: “We are delighted that we’re at a position to launch this new essential facility, bring jobs, offer learning opportunities and keep skills in the region.”

The coatings and maintenance company offer painting and blasting maintenance, project management and manpower solutions to the offshore, oil and gas, renewable energy and network rail sectors.

Additional courses will be offered in manual handling, first aid, health and safety and other courses based around the industries.

Qualifications are industry recognised such as ICATS, Train the Painter, Working at Height and ECITB.

As well as Jarrow, the company have opened additional office and training centres in Great Yarmouth and Northern Ireland within the past eight months.

Its commercial division is looking to break into international markets.
