A THRIVING North East business which provides goods to hair and beauty salons has found a new home in South Tyneside.

Wilkins and Stroud has opened the doors to its latest store at Bede Trade Park, in Abbotts Way, Jarrow.

The company, run by Jayne Wilkins and Chris Stroud, already owns a successful venture operating in Middlesbrough providing professional hair care and beauty products to stylists and beauticians.

But, after hearing of clients travelling from Tyneside and Wearside they began their search for a second base – and found it in Jarrow.

Ms Wilkins said: “Over the last seven years we have been serving the North East and its colleges and we have had people from all over the region driving to our base in Middlesbrough.

“Chris had always said there was a gap in the market in South Tyneside, so we decided to take a look and found the perfect place for our second superstore.

“Since we opened we have had a lot of positive feedback and have been overwhelmed by the support we have received – all we want is to be able to provide a friendly, quality service which is competitive in prices.

“We would love to welcome more stylists and beauticians through our doors to see what we have to offer.”

The new superstore currently employs four member of staff – two beauticians and one stylist who is overseen by manger Michelle Powell – and sells a wide range of branded products. The business also sells salon furniture and has already supplied items to salons in South Tyneside.

Ms Wilkins added: “The website is great for products but there are certain things you need to see and be able to touch.

“And we also have staff on hand who can offer advice and take the time to talk to students and traders to find out their needs.

“For me, students are the future, which is why we do all we can to help and support them and hopefully encourage them to one day open a salon of their own.”

The superstore, is only open to those within the hair and beauty trade and students on courses. It is open seven-days-a-week and can also provide a next day delivery to salons.

Stylists and beauticians wishing to register for a trade card can do so by calling into the superstore.
