A major South Tyneside supermarket today announced it was extending opening hours in order to offer its customers “more flexibility”.
From next Monday, Morrisons store on Ocean Road, South Shields, will extend its morning trading hours on Monday to Saturday, opening from 7am instead of 8am, and it remains open until 10pm instead of 9pm.
Gary Tiffany, the store’s general manager, said: “We know that many customers in our area work shifts, flexitime and have busy family schedules. We want to be open for our customers when they need us. An extension to evening opening hours will mean that people can pop in for freshly prepared foods later in the day.
“An extension to evening opening hours will mean South Shields’s customers have the opportunity to shop Morrisons for the widest variety of freshly prepared foods for breakfast, lunch and evening mealtimes. On offer is fresh meat and fish prepared by academy-trained butchers and fishmongers, a wide variety of oven-baked breads and cakes from Morrisons bakers and the widest variety of fresh fruit and vegetables displayed by the in-store grocery team.”
The activity forms part of a significant investment programme to make shopping trips easier for Morrisons customers. Improvements include the redesign of stores, the refurbishment of baby change and toilets, the updating of car park controls and the removal of trolley locks.
