ALL CHANGE ... the old housing offices are being revamped.

A FORMER housing office is being given a new lease of life as new businesses get set to move in.

The old Horsley Hill housing offices, in Horsley Hill Square, South Shields, has been undergoing a revamp in recent weeks.

The premises are set to be split into a mixture of retail and office space by South Tyneside Homes’ property services.

The ground floor will be separated into three shops – two of which have been confirmed as a coffee shop and a hairdressing salon.

Meanwhile, the upstairs can be used by companies who wish to rent out office space.

A spokesman for South Tyneside Council said: “Following the closure of the former Horsley Hill housing offices, South Tyneside Homes’ Property Services is carrying out renovations to convert the unit into retail and office space. The work will create three ground-floor shops and separate first-floor offices.

“Terms have been agreed provisionally for two of the retail units for use as a coffee shop and hairdressing salon.

“Further discussions are ongoing with a number of potential users for the third shop and the offices.”

He added: “This is great news for the area and will complement the diverse selection of shops already on offer in Horsley Hill.”
