A colourful charity champion is going to be in the pink all-year-round - to help boost the fight against cancer.
Caring Colin Burgin-Plews has already raised plenty of smiles - and cash for Breast Cancer Now - since donning an eye-catching pink dress at last year‘s Great North Run.
He followed that up by becoming the unlikely star of his very own calendar, featuring him dressed in his popular pink attire in a host of landmark locations across South Tyneside.
The dedicated dad, who lives in West Harton, South Shields, with fiancee Cath Burgin and son Ollie, has already raised over £11,000 for the vital charity through his efforts.
Now he is becoming a calendar gir again to help bring in more precious pounds for the cause.
The chef is aiming to cook up a recipe for more success after visiting iconic attractions from all over the north east for the fundraising project.
The 47-year-old has taken in popular spots such as Beamish Museum, the Stephenson Railway Museum , Bamburgh Castle, as well as staying closer to home at Little Haven beach.
Standing at 6ft 6, Mr Burgin-Plews is hard to miss and he is hoping to put his chosen charity into the spotlight again.
Mr Burgin-Plews said: “Everything has gone much bigger than I expected.
“Last year I did it all for a bit of a laugh but now it is £11,500 later.
“It has been crazy.
“But the only important thing is raising money and awareness for the charity.
“Yes, people will see a funny man in a dress.
“But the message behind it is we want to stop people dying of cancer.
“We have been all over the north east, from Beamish Museum and the Tyne Bridge to the Stephenson Railway Museum and Bamborough Castle.”
His debut calendar sold an impressive 950 copies - with hopes high that sales could be trebled.
Mr Burgin-Plews added; “We noticed a lot of people from other parts of the north east bought the calendar last year so we decided to expand it.
“We sold 950 calendars last year and I think we will be able to double or treble that this year.”
The charity crusader is also stepping out for Breast Cancer now for a 5k South Shields Park run on October 24.
The calendars are on sale at £6 at the visitor centre in Haven Point, South Shields, or for £7.35 by post. They can be ordered and paid for by calling 0191 424 7788 or visiting The Big Pink Dress fund-raising Facebook page or Just Giving page. Visit www.justgiving.com/bigpinkdressvlm16
