Call for darts players to take part in knockout tournament

Rachel and Rob Moreton have been attending KAYAKS - Kids And Young Adults Klub Special Needs - since January with their six-year-old son Jacob.

The youngster has been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

The group, which is based at Mortimer Community Centre, enables him to be with other youngsters who have also been diagnosed as having special needs while his parents are also given support.

The couple from South Shields are hoping to give something back to the group which has helped their family and Jacob.

A darts tournament has been organised at the Percy Club in Tyne Dock on December 3 in aid of the KAYAKS.

Mrs Morton said: “We didn’t know any other parents going through the same thing as us such as - the diagnosis process, meetings, filling forms out etc. KAYAKS has done so much for us as a family including supporting us and giving Jacob opportunities to do new things.

“I wanted to give them something back to show how much we appreciate them.”

The darts tournament is open to all players and abilities. Entry on the night is £3 and a buffet is available. A raffle will also be held with a range of prizes, from Saks, Diamond Hair by Leanne, South Shields Florist, Minchella’s, Tesco. Rachel Ratcliffe and Body art tattoo with John, up for grabs.
