The Shields Gazette and the charity, Hope 4 Kidz, are hoping you will help make this year’s Easter Egg appeal a sweet success.
Last year, thanks to your generosity and that of local businesses we helped 2,487 children, all struggling to overcome long-term illness, disability and other problems such as poverty and abuse.
This year we hope to support even more children in refuges, hospitals, homeless units, special needs units.
Hope 4 Kidz, a charity which helps underprivileged children, will be collecting and distributing the donated Easter Eggs in the week leading up to Easter.
Viv Watts, of Hope 4 Kidz, said: “We have had requests for more than 1,000 Easter Eggs so far, with more request coming in every day.
“We are very grateful to the public and businesses for their donations and support. “
“Our plea, of course, is please buy an extra Easter Egg and drop it into one of the collection points so that we can support all of the wish lists.”
Anyone wishing to donate an Easter treat can do so at one of our collection points: Morrisons, in Ocean Road, and Santander, in King Street.
The last day for donations will be Wednesday, April 12.
Gavin Foster, the Gazette’s managing editor, said: “There was a huge turn-out of support for last year’s appeal and we hope to see just as much for it this time round. A small gesture can have a huge effect on children who need something to pick them up when they’re feeling down.”
