Ideally she’s looking for people in her home town to donate some air miles.

Karis said: “I am a second year student at Manchester University and on Friday October 28, Anna and I will be setting off from the university at 4pm in a bid to travel the greatest distance possible by 10pm on Saturday night.

“We have been looking at some figures and I think the furthest distance someone managed to get last year was Hong Kong!

“I got involved in the challenge as I am part of the Raise and Give Society at the university and decided this was a way of giving myself a challenge and raising some money for a good cause.

“We have been looking at destinations and the furthest place from Manchester we thought of was a tiny city in New Zealand, but that’s too far in the time we have. We hope to travel to somewhere off the coast of Africa.
“We can’t spend any money, so we are hoping to raise awareness of what we are doing in case anyone has any air miles or any advice on how we could do it.”

At the end of the 30 hours those back at the university will activate trackers placed with each group to see which of the 20 teams managed to travel the furthest distance. Those who travel the furthest distance will win the challenge. The pair have also held fundraising activities such as a cake sale and a pub quiz which has managed to raise funds for the charity.
Karis added: “As we can’t spend anything, we have send out emails to celebrities such as Jack Whitehall and Benedict Cumberbatch asking if they could help.

“We asked Jack if he would join us on the challenge and we did hear back from him saying he was shooting a programme for TV.
“So we are hoping members of the public may be able to help us.”
