Carnival fever enjoyed at fun day

Families flocked to the free event which saw its biggest ever turnout last Saturday.

There was a feast of activities and entertainment on offer, including craft stalls, a funfair, a miniature zoo and demonstrations.

The highlight of this year’s event was a spectacular carnival, staged by performance production company The Creative Seed.

The Mayor, Councillor Alan Smith, said: “It was a fabulous day with something for people of all ages to enjoy.

“We were blessed with good weather and there was a really great turnout.”

The annual Fun Day is part of the Jarrow Festival, which sees community events and activities happening at venues across the town over a 10-day period.
