Celebrations as Jarrow youngsters graduate from nursery

A group of youngsters have graduated in style as they prepare to leave their nursery days behind them.

Clervaux Nursery, in Jarrow, hosted a special ceremony for their tiny leavers to wish them well as they head into big school in September.

Dressed in caps and gowns, each youngster was presented with a certificate in front of their proud families.

They were also presented with their own learning journal chronicalling their time at the nursery through photos and their own work.

The nursery in Clervaux Terrace, has been hosting graduation ceremonies for its youngsters for a number of years.

This year, 50 youngsters aged between three and four graduated from the nursery.

A futher 20 children took part in the ceremony which was held over two sessions, however, they will be returning to the nursery in September.

Headteacher Jenny Parker said: “It was absolutely fantastic and such a lovely day.

“It was a celebration of the children’s achivements and their time throughout the year.

“It also celebrated the parental involvement we’ve had this year, with our stay and play days and other events.

“This is my first year as head teacher and they have made me feel so welcome.”

Mrs Parker, added: “Part of the celebration was to say thank you to the staff, they work so hard and for creating the learning journals for the children.

“They are shared with parents throughout the year, but it’s a nice keepsake for the children to finally be able to take them home with them.

“The children have come on so far, it’s been lovely to see them all blossom.”
