from having any association with the group.

The meeting, at Harton and Westoe Miners Welfare, in South Shields, follows her resignation as shadow minister for communities and local government during the leadership crisis which has engulfed Jeremy Corbyn.

Mr Watson said: “I will be asking for support for a motion to ban Emma Lewell-Buck from having any association with the group and the mining banners of South Tyneside.

“By resigning from her position in itself is a vote of no confidence in the leader - a leader who was democratically voted in.”

She added: “She has gone against the democratic policies the whole Miners Union was based upon.

Mr Watson’s views come as Durham Miners’ Association general secretary Dave Hopper branded those who have turned their back on the labour leader as “disgusting” adding those who supported the vote of no confidence “will not be welcome at the Gala.”
