ENERGETIC youngsters in South Shields have been having a ball during the school holiday.

South Tyneside Council’s sports development team has been running a range of activity express sessions during the half term.

This week the team was at Westoe Crown Primary School in Sea Winnings Way.

Youngsters aged from eight to 14 were able to play a range of sporting games for free between 11am and 3pm.

Activities included unihoc, kwik cricket, kick rounders, tennis, football, plus team games.

Sam Fox, from the council’s sports development team, said: “The sessions were really well attended with an average of 75 kids at each of the Activity Express sessions that were held at Westoe Crown during the week.”

Ms Fox added: “It was a partnership between Westoe Crown Primary School and the council.

“The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves taking part in the wide range of activities on offer.”

Sessions were also held at Temple Park Centre in John Reid Road, South Shields, and also the Cabin in School Street, Hebburn.
