Dummett was not named in Coleman's party for the World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin later this month.

The 25-year-old has been playing week in, week out for Championship-leading Newcastle United.

And Wales manager Coleman has revealed that Dummett has been playing with an injury and will need to rest during the international break which follows Saturday's game against Birmingham City.

“He’s got a problem with his heel," said Coleman. "He’s played with an injection with his heel (and) might need another. He needs a rest.

"If we were bare defensively, we would have called Newcastle, but we don’t need to do that.”

Dummett – who has made 35 league starts for United this season – is still likely to be involved for United against Birmingham at St Andrew's on Saturday.

Meanwhile, United manager Rafa Benitez will give an update on injuries to Ciaran Clark and DeAndre Yedlin at his pre-match Press conference tomorrow.
