Shoppers could be smelling the coffee if a South Tyneside clothes shop’s new plans are given the go-ahead.
Next’s store in Waterloo Square, South Shields, has applied to South Tyneside Council’s planning committee for consent to open a coffee shop for customers on a mezzanine floor.
The new addition, above the store’s ground floor, will be 1,365sq ft in size.
The application was lodged last week, and its fate will be decided at a future committee meeting.
The clothing company first moved into the Waterloo Square development in 2005, along with BHS, River Island and Debenhams.
