One of borough’s most respected educational establishments is on board as a backer for this year’s Best of South Tyneside Awards.
South Tyneside College, on St George’s Avenue in South Shields, has given its support to the Role Model of the Year category in the Gazette’s Best of South Tyneside Awards ahead of the presentation night.
The awards, which honour unsung heroes, will cumulate at the finals night at the Quality Hotel in Boldon, tomorrow.
South Tyneside College is sponsoring the category which sees Mark Charlton, Jim Purcell and Stuart Redmond, nominated for the accolade which recognises the way they have inspired people through their work for good causes.
Alison Maynard, principal of South Tyneside College’s Professional and Vocational College, said: “The Best of South Tyneside Awards are a great way to celebrate what is good about the borough.
“There are some amazing people doing great things, and their achievements should be acknowledged and celebrated.
“South Tyneside College works to inspire people to be role models within their community by achieving their career dreams and ambitions through better education and training.
“That is why we wholeheartedly support these awards and are delighted to sponsor the Role Model of the Year category.”
