Comedy stage hypnotist Robert Temple is hotfooting his way to South Shields to deliver his controversial show.

For the past 15 years, the 30-year-old has taken his act on tour to 10 countries and hypnotising more than 20,000 people.

It’s the sort of humour I like – a bit Roy Chubby Brown and end of the pier show.

Now, he is hitting the UK and will be at the Customs House, South Shields, on Thursday May 3 with his show Robert Temple: The Hypnotist Live and Outrageous.

Robert, who lives in Newcastle said: “Nobody has ever done a show like this on a scale like this before.

“It’s the sort of humour I like – a bit Roy Chubby Brown and end of the pier show – but with the added element of hypnotism which means the audience and, of course the volunteers on stage, don’t quite know where they’re heading.”

The show is a far cry from his days as a young magician who was so nervous during his first show, his step-mother had to deliver the words while he performed his tricks in silence.

However, he went on to perform more than a thousand shows on the holiday islands of Kos and Corfu during his late teens and early 20s, helping him to become the performer he is today.

But over the years magis lost its magic and he turned to hypnotism.

Robert who was inspired by the late magician Paul Daniels, said: “Watching him perform was like attending a master class for anybody wanting to be involved in comedy entertainment.”

The show is not for the easily offended and the recommended age is 18+.

Tickets, priced from £16, are available from the box office on (0191) 454 1234 or book online at www.customshouse.co.uk.
