Couple launch new coffee shop in South Shields

Octavian and Hanneke Lazin have decided to branch out into the world of coffee by opening up their own coffee shop - Coffee Zone.

The couple already run a motoring website but this is the first time the 27-year-old’s have owned their own business premises.

The coffee shop in Westoe Road, South Shields, was opened in June and already the couple have seen a number of returning customers.

Octavian said: “Since we’ve opened we have had a lot of interest from people.

“We import our own coffee beans and sell them in the shop also.

“I’ve always been interested in different types of coffees and the food we do is clean and healthy.

“It is scary having premises to look after but we also run the online business which will help to pay the bills.”

The premises they have taken over has changed hands a number of times but the couple are hoping to make the shop their own for the foreseeable future.

As well as a range of coffee types, people can also enjoy a range of snacks either sitting in or as a takeaway.

Hanneke said: “We know the shop has changed hands a number of times and no one seems to have been able to make a success of it.

“But hopefully, we will be able to. We are nervous but it’s exciting also.”

Coffee Zone is open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm.
