A DARN good craft fair is back for a second run after initial success.

Harton Quays Park craft fair will make an unexpected return to South Shields Riverside this month.

During the past three Sundays hundreds of visitors flocked to the fair to enjoy everything from cupcakes to sweets and textiles.

And due to its popularity with visitors, and demands from stall holders, an extra event has been arranged for Sunday, August 31, from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Coun Alan Kerr, South Tyneside Council’s deputy leader, said that the craft fairs are a “wonderful” way to draw people to Harton Quays Park.

“Even the inclement weather on the very first day didn’t put off the crowds coming along to see the variety of handcrafted goods on offer,” he said.

“The event has grown over the three weeks it was held and the feedback received has been very positive.

“We are delighted to be able to hold this additional event.

“It will give our talented craftspeople and artists another chance to showcase their creations, as well as give visitors an opportunity to enjoy this wonderful riverside location, take in the amazing views and buy something unique, which they won’t find in the shops.”

The council is urging artists, designers and food sellers to get in touch as soon as possible if they would like to get involved with the new event.
