The creative couple who are changing the arts in South Tyneside

Garner and Sandy Harris founded Creative Seed seven years ago to make high quality and creative projects available to local communities.

Their work has been a huge sucess and has put them in the running for a Best of South Tyneside award.

The nomination for the couple said: “They are great believers of people and, through dance and design workshops, have helped build the confidence of people of all ages and abilities.

“They are a patient, kind and vibrant couple who have an enthusiasm for life and for seeing people do well, and they consistently go out their way to support good causes.”

Sandy admitted: “I am flabbergasted. It is lovely to be nominated because we have worked so hard and when you have got your own business, you often never get the chance to look up.

“You think no-one knows about you but someone has taken the time to mark us out. It is lovely.”

The Best of South Tyneside awards have a headline sponsor of Siemens and are being held in association with The Customs House, and with Port of Tyne, BT South Tyneside, Barbour, David Gray and Harlow Print as category sponsors.

The deadline for entries is May 6 with the grand final on the way at the Quality Hotel on June 9.
