Assaulting a police officer, breaching a restraining order and motoring offences: Defendants appear before magistrates court

The following cases were heard at South Tyneside and Sunderland Magistrates’ Courts:

Lauren Benham, 25, of Barbour Avenue, South Shields, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was fined £184 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge. She was banned from driving for 12 months.

Carl Young, 28, of Ann Street, Hebburn, admitted driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident. He was given a 12-month community order with 80 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £90 surcharge. He was also given nine penalty points.

Neall Thompson, 27, of Dryden Close, South Shields, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £100 in compensation, £85 costs and a surcharge of £32.

Stuart Kenneth McKay, 39, of Chatton Avenue, South Shields, pleaded guilty to fraud. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.

Ian King, 59, of Captain’s Wharf, South Shields, was fined £40 after he admitted having an unlicensed vehicle. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and back duty of £57.50.

Mark Alan Kerton, 28, of Parliament Street, Hebburn, was fined £40 after he admitted breaching a supervision order. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £32.

Hayley Allcock, 34, of Lambton Road, Hebburn, was fined £500 after admitting failing to provide driver information to the police. She was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £50 surcharge and was given six penalty points.

Aiden Scott, 24, of Fitzpatrick Place, South Shields, was fined £50 after he admitted failing to provide driver information to the police. He was ordered to pay £40 costs and a £22 surcharge and was given six penalty points.

Acer Paul Smith, 29, of Imeary Street, South Shields, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order and committing an offence while on a suspended sentence order. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £200 costs and a £20 surcharge and had his suspended sentence extended for three months.
