POLICE searching for a Hebburn man missing from home for nearly a month have found a body.

A body pulled from the River Tyne at the weekend is believed to be that of 24-year-old Craig Millward, cops have said.

The 24-year-old was seen leaving a bar in Newcastle’s Bigg Market in the early hours of May 5 and was last spotted at 1.30am, on Green Lane, in Gateshead, walking towards the cycle path on the riverside.

Police believed he intended to return to his home, in Hebburn, but he failed to arrive at the house he shares with partner, Katie Marie-Clare Kellett, and was later reported missing.

Officers have now said that a body pulled from the River Tyne on Sunday morning is thought to be that of Craig, although he has yet to be formally identified.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “The body is yet to be formally identified however it is believed to be that of missing man Craig Millward.

“The family have been informed and enquiries into the death are ongoing.”
