Bogus caller warning after man stole money in South Shields

HOUSEHOLDERS have today been warned to beware of bogus callers after an incident in South Shields.

At about 5.50pm on Bank Holiday Monday, police received a report of a man calling at a house in Harton House Road.

He asked for a glass of water and then to use the toilet, before leaving.

After he had gone, the occupant noticed that money was missing.

The caller was in his 40s, with curly blonde hair.

Police are in the area to provide reassurance and carry out inquiries.
