THOUSANDS of pounds worth of jewellery was stolen from a South Tyneside house..

The burglary happened between 2.30pm on Monday, August 18, and 2.15pm on Tuesday, August 19, at Hylton Lane in West Boldon.

Thieves gained entry into the property via rear French doors which were forced open.

Items stolen included a diamond ring and a range of drop-style earrings encrusted with gems.

DC Katrina Moore said: “I’d appeal for any witnesses or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between August 18 and August 19, or who has information about the burglary to get in touch.

“I’m also keen to hear from anyone who knows of the whereabouts of any of the stolen property or who has been offered any of it for sale. Some of these items have great sentimental value to the owner.

“We’re doing everything we can to get it back and trace those responsible for the burglary.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 594 19/08/14, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
