Car stolen after thieves break into home and snatch keys

Police were called on Tuesday and told that there had been a break-in overnight at an address on Drake Close, South Shields.

It is believed that In the early hours of Tuesday morning, offenders gained access to the address before swiping the keys to a grey Audi RS3.

They then drove off in the vehicle, which has a registration ending OEN.

The vehicle is distinctive in appearance and officers have today released a picture of the stolen car in the hope that members of the public may have seen it or come forward with information.

Detective Sergeant Chris Raper-Smith, of Northumbria Police, said: “We are following a number of lines of enquiry in a bid to locate the stolen vehicle and bring those responsible to justice.

“We’re now asking anybody who thinks they may have seen it or who might have been involved to come forward with information.

“Please check your dashcam footage if you live in the area and recognise the registration plate. Your information, no matter how insignificant you feel it may be, could provide the crucial missing link to this investigation.”
