CCTV APPEAL: Can you identify suspected thieves from rogues gallery?

POLICE are appealing for help in cracking a range of unsolved crimes in South Tyneside.

Today, the Gazette prints CCTV images of people detectives want to speak to as part of their inquiries into thefts across the borough.

The appeal forms part of the ongoing Operation Soundwave.

Chief Inspector Sarah Pitt, of the police’s South Tyneside area command, said: “We are releasing these images to help make sure those responsible for stealing are arrested, and appropriate action is taken to stop their offending.

“Officers meticulously view CCTV footage to establish if there is anything or anyone that can help in their inquiries to potentially solve the crime.

“We want to speak to the people in these images, and we are asking the public to help us.

“If anyone recognises any of these people, I’d urge them to get in touch with us.”

The images show people officers want to talk to about:

1: Thieves stealing a pouch holding a hands-free phone kit from an unlocked car parked in Alwin Grange, Hebburn, at 8.15pm on Sunday, February 9. Ref BB063/14.

2: A bottle of spirits being stolen from the Nisa Local store in Lord Street, South Shields, at 8pm on Sunday, October 27, at 8pm. Ref BB047/14.

3: The theft of a fur coat from the Quality Hotel, Boldon Colliery, at 1am on Sunday, December 22. Ref BB038/14.

4: Meat being stolen at 6pm on Thursday, December 5, from Asda in Station Road, Hebburn. Ref BB002/14.

5: Toiletries being pinched from Boots in the Viking Precinct at Jarrow at 3.57pm on Saturday, January 25. Ref BB041/14.

6: A coat being stolen during a burglary at the Trocadero pub in the Denmark Centre in South Shields on Sunday, January 26 at 4.05pm. Ref BB040/14.

7: Chicken being stolen from the Farmfoods store in Sunderland Road, South Shields, on Tuesday, November 19, at 7.40pm. Ref BB037/14.

8: Meat being taken from Aldi in Chichester Road, South Shields, on Monday January 20 at 12.20am. Ref BB 051 14.

9: Wine being stolen from the One Stop shop in Whiteleas Way, South Shields, on Monday, January 27, at 3.10pm. Ref BB 057 14.

10: Alcohol and cigarettes being stolen from Eastfield Stores in Ellison Street, South Shields, on Friday, January 24, at 7.30pm. Ref BB 061 14.

11: A radiator getting stolen from a driveway in Harton House Road East in South Shields, on Saturday, December 14 ,at 9.35am. Ref BB 068 14.

12: Cash being stolen from South Eldon News in South Eldon Street, South Shields, on Sunday, December 22, at 1pm. Ref 344 14.
