Court Round-up: Assaulting police, threatening behaviour, drink driving and damaging wing mirrors

The following people have been dealt with at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court:

Charanjit Singh Basra, 42, of Woodside Way, South Shields, was fined £100 and ordered to pay compensation of £100 after assaulting a police constable in the execution of his duty in Broughton Road, South Shields, on Saturday, July 26.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £200.

Tajinder Basra, 44, of Brabizon Road, Leicester, was fined £100 and ordered to pay compensation of £150 after assaulting a police constable in the execution of his duty in Broughton Road, South Shields, on Saturday, July 26.

She must also pay prosecution costs of £200.

Connor Barrass, 18, of Warrington Road, Newcastle, was fined £73 and ordered to pay compensation of £100 after damaging the wing mirror of a car in South Shields on Thursday, July 16.

He was also ordered to pay a criminal courts charge of £150.

Gary Doyle, 46, of Holborn Road, South Shields, was given a six-month community order and must keep to an electronically tagged curfew between the hours of 8pm and 7am for one month for using threatening, abusive or insulting words of behaviour to another person on Sunday, June 14.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £625, a £150 criminal courts charge and a £60 victim surcharge.

James Murray, 33, of Hedgley Road, Hebburn, was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £200 for driving with excess alcohol in Jarrow Road, South Shields, on Friday, September 4.

He must also pay a criminal courts charge of £150, prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Anthony Tumility, 43, of Torrens Road, Sunderland, was fined £10 for breaching a community order by failing to attend a supervision appointment on September 1.
