Court Round-up: Theft, drugs and driving offences at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court

The following people have been convicted at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

•Jonathan Mackie, 41, of Alice Street, South Shields, was disqualified from driving for 18 months and was fined £375 for an offence of failing to provide a specimen of breath in South Tyneside on May 11.

He was also ordered to pay a criminal courts charge of £520, prosecution costs of £300 and a £37 victim surcharge.

•Michael Fox, 38, of Australia Grove, South Shields, was jailed for two months for an offence of shop theft at Asda, in Coronation Street, South Shields, on May 27.

He was also ordered to pay a criminal courts charge of £150.

•Stephen Atkinson, 49, of Fox Avenue, South Shields, was given an absolute discharge for two counts of assaulting a police officer in South Shields on Friday, June 12.

•Neil Hague, 30, of Walter Street, Jarrow, was given a six month conditional discharge for an offence of being drunk and disorderly in a public place, namely Fowler Street, South Shields, on Sunday, August 9.

He must also pay a criminal courts charge of £150, prosecution costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £15.

•Saeed Laskar, 20, of Palmerston Street, South Shields, was fined £73 for being in possession of a quantity of cannabis in South Tyneside on Friday, April 10.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.
