A MAN accused of breaching a restraining order has been remanded in custody.

Mark Elliot is said to have knocked on the door of the home of his ex-partner in Hebburn on Sunday evening.

The 26-year-old, of Amble Avenue, South Shields, denied the charge when he appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

A restraining order – prohibiting him from contacting the woman for two years – was imposed in May of this year.

Stan Sudworth, prosecuting, asked magistrates to refuse Elliot bail until his trial date.

Magistrates decided to remand Elliot in custody until his trial at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on October 8
